There are some moments in a photographer's journey that truly stand out, and for me, this is definitely one of them! I'm absolutely delighted to announce that one of my photographs, a serene shot of Cunningham Pier, Geelong, has been chosen to be featured in the official City of Greater Geelong 2026 Calendar!
It's an incredible honour to have my work recognised by the City of Greater Geelong, and even more special to see a familiar and beloved landmark like Cunningham Pier gracing the pages for the month of April.
The Story Behind the Shot
For those who know me, you'll know my deep affection for capturing the beauty of our local surroundings. Geelong offers such a diverse canvas for photography, from its vibrant waterfront to its stunning natural landscapes. This particular image of Cunningham Pier was captured during one of those magical early mornings when the world feels still and bathed in golden light.
There’s something truly captivating about watching the sunrise over Corio Bay, as the first rays of light paint the sky and gently awaken the pier. The calm water often creates these incredible reflections, almost mirroring the structure above, doubling its grandeur. It's moments like these that I live for – quiet, peaceful, and brimming with natural beauty.
A Piece of Geelong, Shared with Geelong
Cunningham Pier isn't just a structure; it's a hub of memories for so many of us – a place for leisurely strolls, fishing, enjoying a meal, or simply taking in the breathtaking views. To have my interpretation of this iconic spot chosen to represent a month in the city's calendar is incredibly rewarding. It feels wonderful to contribute a visual piece of our community back to the community itself.
